Botnet controllers

Botnet is a computer network consisting of several hosts with active bots (autonomous software). Operated by a single control center, the bots execute coordinated actions in the interests of the attacker. The software installed by botnets on victims’ devices may use a disguise to avoid being detected by standard detection means of the operating system or antivirus software. The attacker may employ several tools simultaneously to achieve his goal: bots can mine cryptocurrency (as Malware) or send out phishing emails, spam and malware on behalf of the owner of the infected device. Using a familiar email increases the chances of the recipient acting upon the message. Malware can be distributed through various channels. Besides social engineering, attackers may take advantage of vulnerabilities (exploits) in browsers, plug-ins (Adobe Flash Plugin is one infamous example), office software and so on.
